This is a one day workshop designed for individuals and businesses interested in cut flower production and marketing with an emphasis on commercial enterprises.
Presentations and lively discussions will advance market opportunities
for growers and buyers. Come and network with industry leaders to explore ways
to expand your business. This workshop is made possible by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.

- Terry Howe, Ball Horticulture (What is in the pipeline?
Where is the market headed? What are the best sellers and why?)

- Lane Greer Thinking outside the flower box. (Expanding
the market. Alternative crops. Role of cut woody stems.) 35
minutes
- Beth Eggers The importance of presentation. (The added
value of floral arrangements versus cut flowers.) 15 minutes

What does the market want/need?: panel discussion (What do you
need?: invoice, delivery time/day/method, no pollen/fragrance/color,
etc.. How do I do business with you? What does the consumer tell you
they want?)

How do we grow this stuff? (Production issues video stories)
(Why are my beds 36 wide? Why do I use the tractor I do? What is my
labor force? What do I do for post harvest (cooler, post harvest
chemicals)? How do I irrigate? How do I fertilize? Pests/weed control?
Harvesting? Delivery? Facilities? Scheduling? Varieties?) 2 to 4:30 pm

Preregistration: Preregistration is strongly recommended.
Attendance is limited to the first 80 registrants.
Registration Deadline: November 10, 2008
Cost: Preregistration (by Nov. 10) is $10, which includes breaks, lunch, and
a detailed handbook. Onsite registration or registration after Nov. 10 is $20.
