Submitting a Forage Sample for Nutrient Analysis
(Hay, Pasture and Silage)
1. Take samples to the local
county
Extension office
2. Complete all the information on the Feed Information Sheet (AGRI-412
(PDF)). Complete a form for each sample to be submitted. Available analyses
are:
Routine (moisture, % CP, ADF, NDF, TDN, NEL)
Forage Nitrate
Major Minerals (P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, S)
Minor Minerals (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu)
3. Payment for analysis of samples should be sent with each sample. The fee
schedule is on the Feed Information Sheet (AGRI-412
(PDF)). Make checks payable to: UA Agri Services Lab.
4. The county Extension office will mail samples to the University of
Arkansas Agricultural Services Laboratory in Fayetteville.
5. Generally, you will receive the analysis report back from the laboratory
within 10 days from the time you mail the sample.
