Soybean research verification program began in 1983. [Map of Arkansas with county outlines showing locations for the 2010 enrollment] This year, in 2010, there are 18 fields enrolled with 18 growers scattered across the state from Missouri to Louisiana, up and down the Delta and as far west as Clark County at Arkadelphia.

Verify recommendations are profitable.] We try to verify that research-based recommendations will be profitable for a grower on an average field in the state, to provide training and assistance to county agents with limited expertise in soybean production [Picture of a researcher talking to a group at a field day. Assist county agents with soybean production.], and lastly and most of all to help farmers develop production practices that will work for them to be profitable for them [Video showing a combine in a soybean field. This year, in 2010, we had a total of 18 fields, two of those are what we call full-season, non-irrigated fields. [In] other words, planted in May or June and were irrigated. Two fields were early season, planted in April and were irrigated. Fourteen fields were what we call full-season, planted in May or June and were irrigated.

[Picture of an irrigated soybean field.] Where we did have irrigation that began on time and was consistently done through the year, we had very good yields. [Picture of a pen, calculator, and a balance sheet.] Following the year, we compiled all our data, economics and submit those to the economists who will compile the data and put that into a written form and have that available online on our website and also in hardcopy form to the agents and the growers and any interested people.
