Irrigation Scheduling Program
The decision process on determining when to irrigate crops is referred to as
Irrigation Scheduling. There are several different Irrigation Scheduling methods
available to producers who irrigate. Most of these methods have been evaluated
in Arkansas through University Research and Extension studies. The water balance
approach for Irrigation Scheduling has been determined to be the method most
practical and suitable for Arkansas producers. This approach is used in an
Irrigation Scheduling Computer Program that is used by producers in Arkansas,
Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Missouri. The program can be used for
cotton, soybeans, corn and grain sorghum crops that are irrigated with furrow,
center pivot, border or levee irrigation methods. The program is
downloadable from this webpage and instructions for doing this follow.
