The latest version of the
Congressional Research Service’s publication
that compares the House and Senate farm bills is now available on our
Ag Policy
web page.
On the 2008 farm bill, what comes next? A farm bill House and Senate
Conference committee with input from the President will resolve differences
between the House and Senate farm bills. The conference farm bill must be
approved on the floor of the House and Senate. Then the farm bill will be sent
to the President to sign or veto. Writing a farm bill is extremely difficult
because it impacts all Americans. Given the challenges in writing this farm
bill, then I believe that excellent progress is being made in moving toward a
completed new farm bill.
