What is AgritourismThe dictionary defines agritourism as “the practice of touring agricultural areas to see farms and often to participate in farm activities.” In Arkansas, we define agritourism as taking the back roads to discover rural fun! Agritourism is more than visiting a farm ... it’s teaching children the satisfaction of picking their own fruit. It’s uncovering hidden gems at a crafts fair or enjoying down-home cooking you just can’t get in the city. Agritourism promotes businesses that offer out-of-the-ordinary experiences such as U-pick operations and farmers’ markets, winery tours, festivals and fairs, hiking, rock climbing, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. It gives families the opportunity to reconnect by slowing down from the stress of every day life to focus on relaxing and enjoying each other. Take a back road and discover rural Arkansas!
